What the ACGME already has
Your iPhone (Capnolog 1.3.0, anesthesiology) or your paired browser extension reads your official ACGME list back into Capnolog. The phone then mirrors the record instead of guessing at it. What comes back sorts into matched, new from their side, and needs resolution. Any case number is masked to its last four characters before it is stored.

Your official log is the record. Your phone is where the work happens. Until the two agree, “have I already logged that?” is a question neither one can answer on its own.
Can the extension read your official log, not just add to it?
Yes, and so can the phone. On an iPhone with Capnolog 1.3.0, in anesthesiology, the phone reads your ACGME cases back once you sign in on ACGME's page. Once the browser extension is paired, the extension brings back the same list. That read is what turns your phone from a second log into a mirror of the record.
Where do the cases that come back end up?
What came back sorts into matched, new from the ACGME's side, and needs resolution. The third bucket is the honest one. Cases where the two sides describe the same day differently need a human to say which is right. Each bucket taps through to its own list.
How many of your cases are still to send?
One row opens the breakdown that actually answers the question: to send, sent, and already on their list. That is the number to look at the week before a review.
What if you are starting mid-residency?
If you are adopting Capnolog in your CA-2 year, import your starting totals from a prior export. That way your progress bars open where you actually are instead of at zero. Everything after that accumulates normally.
What happens to case numbers and identifiers?
A record number or a case identifier that comes back is masked to its last four characters at both edges before it is stored. The masking runs again over anything already on the device. Capnolog holds a reference you can recognise, not an identifier.
Reading is still not submitting. Every case that goes the other way is filled in for you and saved by you, one at a time.
