Review the case where it appears.

The Capnolog extension works on the ACGME Case Log entry form: it prefills the form from your record, you review every field, and you press Submit yourself — so the right case goes in and nothing is filed twice.

The handoff

A browser window: a case-entry form with four fields filled and one left for you. The Capnolog side panel sits beside the form, listing what the panel filled, the field the panel stopped on, and the reminder to press Submit.

    Open the ACGME Case Log entry form. The panel names the matching Capnolog case.

  2. Confirm the match

    Check that this is the right case, then let Capnolog prefill the form from your record.

    Capnolog records that this case went in, so it is never double-logged.

Unmatched fields

Can't confidently match a field? Capnolog keeps the ambiguity visible instead of guessing.

The panel lists every field it stopped on, in the order they appear on the form, with the reason it stopped. Those rows are the last thing the panel gives up when it runs short of room — you fill them in yourself, then press Submit.

Reading back

Prefilling is the half people expect. The other half is that the extension can bring your official list back — so your phone and the record stop disagreeing about what has been filed.

What comes back sorts into three buckets: cases that matched what you already have, cases that are new from the ACGME's side, and cases where the two descriptions of one day differ and a human has to say which is right. That third bucket is the honest one, and it is the reason the other two can be trusted.

  • A case already on your ACGME list is held out of your send queue — the log is never filed twice.
  • The ACGME's Case ID box is free text a resident may have typed a record number into. Capnolog keeps only the field's last four characters.
  • Pairing is a short code you type once, and unpairing purges the queue the extension was holding.
  • The extension still holds no ACGME credentials and never signs in for you — reading happens in the session you opened.

It prefills the official ACGME Case Log form one case at a time, inside the browser tab you are already logged into. You review what it entered and press Submit yourself. It never submits for you.

Anesthesiology today; neurosurgery in beta. The anesthesiology field map is the one that has been in residents' hands. The neurosurgery form is a different shape: the form's codes are typed and picked rather than chosen from a list, and that profile is in the private beta with the rest of the app, not in general use.

  • Prefill-only — the extension fills the visible fields, then stops before Submit.
  • One case at a time — no batch loops, no unattended runs.
  • Runs only inside an ACGME tab you logged into yourself. The extension holds no credentials and never logs in for you.
  • If a form option doesn't match cleanly, the extension stops and asks you instead of silently guessing.
  • The extension reads your official list and writes to that list, so a case already filed is never offered twice.

You legally attest to every case you submit, and archived cases are permanent — so the extension is deliberately conservative. The phone app delivers full value on its own; the extension is just a convenience for submission day.

Getting it

Capnolog sends you the link from inside the app — there is no button for it here.

  1. 1In Capnolog, open the Log tab and tap the ACGME card. That opens ACGME sync.
  2. 2Tap “Email me the extension link”.
  3. 3Open that email on the computer you file from, and add the extension there.
  4. 4Back on ACGME sync, tap “Generate code” and type the code into the extension.

The extension needs a Capnolog account. Extensions install on a computer, so the link is worth sending to the machine you actually file on.
