Capnolog Case Prep is an Anki add-on. Case Prep reads how many cards you hold against each topic on the board outline, and never reads what is on them.

Getting it
Two minutes at a desktop.
- 1Open Anki on your desktop, then Tools, Add-ons, Get Add-ons.
- 2Paste 533878826 and press OK.
- 3Restart Anki. The menu only appears after Anki reloads.
- 4Tools, Capnolog Case Prep, Status shows what the add-on found.

Install it with the code, not from a downloaded file. Anki only offers updates to an add-on whose folder name matches the AnkiWeb id, so a copy installed from a file never updates again.
The loop
The phone hands you a code. The desktop does the counting.
Anki runs on a computer the phone cannot reach, so the add-on posts the count and the app reads the count back. Nothing on the phone ever touches your collection.

Rules
What it will and will not do to your collection.
Counts
The add-on sends how many cards sit under each outline topic. Total, due, locked, new. Card content stays on your computer.
Your tags
Tag names go only if you approve them, one by one. A tag shaped like a date or a long number starts unchecked.
One dialog
Nothing in your collection changes until you say yes. Every change lands in a ledger with an undo beside the entry.
Not mid-review
No background pass writes to your collection while a review session is on screen. The add-on waits for the session to end.
Backlog
A queue at nine hundred due is a queue nobody clears. The add-on can park the lowest-priority cards and bring them back as the queue drains. Parking is suspension. Intervals, ease and due dates are never touched, so a card parked forty days overdue comes back forty days overdue.
Read back
In the app, one line says when your desktop last synced, how many cards are due, and how many day plans are waiting. A sync older than three days is called stale, because a due count that old has stopped describing your collection. When the add-on refuses a plan, the app shows the refusal in the add-on's own words.
The app half
Study Lab is in beta as a paid layer inside the Capnolog app. That layer covers the schedule, the exam dates, the outline coverage, and the pairing code the add-on asks for. It is open by invite. Logging your ACGME cases stays free.
The add-on works on your own collection either way. Taking a plan from the app is the one thing the add-on cannot do alone.
