Fix or delete a case after you submit it to the ACGME
While you are active in your program, open Case Logs, choose Edit, and find the case to change or delete. Update Case Year corrects the year on many cases at once. Once your program marks you graduated and your specialty's archival date passes, the log becomes view only for good.

Submitting a case to the ACGME does not lock the case. Graduating does. The time to fix the record is while you are still an active resident.
Where do you edit or delete a submitted case?
Sign in to ADS and open Case Logs in the left-hand menu. Edit lets you view, edit, copy and delete the cases you already submitted. Find the case, change what is wrong, and save.
How do you fix the year on many cases at once?
Case Logs has an Update Case Year page that changes the year on submitted cases in bulk. Use the page when a run of cases went in under the wrong year.
When does editing stop?
Two things together close the log. Your program marks you graduated in ADS, and your specialty's archival date passes. After that, you can no longer add or edit cases. You can still sign in, read your archived reports and download your data.
Ask your program coordinator for your specialty's archival date. The ACGME's help pages describe no way to reopen an archived log.
What should you do before you graduate?
Enter every missing case and fix every wrong year while you are active. Save a PDF of your reports and the Excel download of your cases. Credentialing offices and employers may ask for both.
Switch your ADS sign-in check to text message before your hospital email ends. The other option is to ask your program to make your personal email the primary address on your ADS account.
What if you transfer to another anesthesiology program?
Your earlier anesthesiology cases must come with you, so a resident joining as a CA-2 brings the CA-1 year. The new program's director or coordinator requests the transfer in the Case Log System.
What does Capnolog change at the ACGME?
Nothing. Editing or deleting a case in Capnolog changes only Capnolog. Capnolog never edits or deletes an ACGME entry. When Capnolog spots entries filed under the wrong year, “Copy case details” gives you what you need to fix each one yourself.
