Share your templates & attending notes
The case templates and attending notes you build up take weeks to get right. Share them so the next resident on service doesn't start from scratch — with zero patient data in the handoff.
- 1
Open the share screen
In Capnolog: Settings → Case templates → “Share templates & notes.” Choose what to include — your case templates and, optionally, the notes you keep on each attending (and any per-specialty preference notes).
- 2
Notes are redacted and previewed
If you include attending notes, Capnolog strips record numbers and date patterns automatically and shows you a preview, so you confirm they hold attending preferences, not patient details.
- 3
Send the file
Tap Export and AirDrop the file to a co-resident (or send it any way you like). It carries templates and notes only — no roster, no logged cases, no plans, and no patient data.
- 4
They import in a tap
Your co-resident taps the file to open it in Capnolog. A confirm sheet shows who it's from and lets them pick which parts to bring in.
- 5
Capnolog de-dupes for them
Imported templates and notes merge into their collection by name, so importing the same file twice is always safe.
- 6
What the file is, exactly
One .capnolog file — readable JSON, nothing hidden in it. It opens in Capnolog when tapped, and the confirm sheet names who sent it before anything is brought in.
There is no field in it for a roster, a case, a plan, or a patient. The hospital and room list is deliberately not shareable: those are yours, and a co-resident's building may not be.

One row at a time also works
You do not have to hand over everything. Swiping a single template in the templates manager shares just that one — the case shape, its prep notes, and the attending notes filed under it.
Templates and notes only, by construction — the shared file has no field for a roster, a case, a plan, or a patient.
More in day to day
Speak it, tap it, or use a template — and never lose a case.
Set up tomorrow's OR board the night before — then log each case in one tap.
Search, chips, a heatmap and a month rail — all narrowing the same list.
Cases, plans and notes sit in a 30-day bin — and a separate history says whether it was you.
